Varitron Invests in Control Solution from Cogiscan
Sebastien Canuel (left), Varitron's Production Manager, and Vincent Dubois, Cogiscan Co-President have agreed on using Cogiscan's TTC system.
Bromont, Quebec, Canada — Group Varitron Technologies, a leading EMS provider based in St-Hubert, Quebec, has entered into a long-term corporate agreement with Cogiscan, a major player in material control for the electronics manufacturing industry. Varitron gradually will implement the complete suite of Cogiscan applications for a factory-wide TTC (Track Trace and Control) system from receiving to shipping across all of its factories. This investment includes TTC software and leading-edge RFID technology to automate the tracking and control of PCBs, components and tooling throughout the manufacturing process. Varitron will collaborate with Cogiscan to develop and test new TTC solutions in a real production environment.

Varitron already has implemented some Cogiscan modules for component and feeder setup validation — online and offline — on SIPLACE placement machines. This solution integrates with the machine software to automatically transfer the feeder setup associated with each product. As an additional benefit, the Cogiscan software gathers critical machine data such as feeder pick events for real-time component consumption, low-level warnings and feeder maintenance.
