Engineered Materials: Epoxies and Conductive Ink

One such product, EMS 702-98, is a one component, heat curable thixotropic paste epoxy adhesive. It is a non-sag adhesive, which forms strong bonds to metals and ceramics. It reportedly has exceptional thermal stability and resistance to water, humidity and solvents. This product offers high heat resistance and cures in less than 36 seconds via induction or infrared heating.

The material is a tough one-part epoxy that provides excellent adhesion to a wide variety of substrates, has excellent cure depth; High cohesive strength, is easily handled by automated dispensing equipment. is fast curing, and solvent-free.

The epoxy is especially suitable for use in , permanent magnet motors, loudspeaker assembly, filter end caps/side seams, and air conditioning joint tubes and compressors.

Another featured product is CI-1001, a screen printable silver-filled conductive ink with low electrical resistance properties. Typical applications include membrane switches, RFID antennae, and medical electrodes. The material's special cost benefit is low electrical resistance at a low ink deposit. It adheres to a wide spectrum of substrates such as polyester (including non-print treated), polyimid, fabric, and similar films. CI-1001 is formulated to have excellent flexibility, and compatibility with ancillary insulators, carbon top-coats, and SMT adhesives. The product is application-ready with no dilution needed. It uses special solvents to give printers very long screen residence time.
