San Francisco Circuits Delivers PCBs, All Kinds of PCBs

Right in the heart of Silicon Valley, San Francisco Circuits is well positioned to service high-tech companies that are on the cutting edge. But more than positioning is attitude. "I really enjoy seeing how our team delivers success and happiness to our customers," says owner and founder Alex Danovich, as he talks about one of his favorite things, making his customers happy. "Our goal is to take the stress out of purchasing PCBs. We strive to make it as easy and pleasant as possible for our customers."

San Francisco Circuits provides PCB prototype fabrication and PCB production capabilities with no limits! Because of its strong PCB manufacturers network, there are no limitations on printed circuit board production technology, order quantity, or lead time.

The company is now able to offer customers any kind of prototype circuit boards they require — whether single- or double-sided FR4 boards or very high technology blind and buried via boards, boards made with unique materials, metal core boards, heavy copper boards, burn-in boards, flex or rigid-flex boards — all are readily available from San Francisco Circuits.

By developing a portfolio of very strong and fully qualified partners, the company has generated the capability of giving customers whatever prototype PCBs they need and when they need them. There are even low-cost PCB prototypes for the electronics hobbyist for low volume PCB prototyping or a prototype for a high volume run.

Prototype PCBs
SFC can offer a complete turnkey service for PCB prototyping — PCB layout design, PCB prototype fab, and PCB assembly — all done in record time.

By networking with fully qualified PCB manufacturing and assembly facilities, it is possible to provide printed boards as quickly as in 12 to 24 hours, depending on the technologies required, and assemble the boards as quickly as in 24 hours.

The staff of experienced professionals is ready to serve customers, assisting them in finding the right printed circuit board solutions for their specific needs. By using a vast network of fully qualified partners the company can offer customers "Borderless Boards" — providing them with whatever printed circuit board technology and service they require. If a designer can't find it anywhere else it's time to call the experts at SFCircuits — available for consultation around the clock (24/7/365).

Expertise Available 24/7
According to Alex, "I think the most important thing we offer our clients is our expertise. We consider ourselves PCB Exerts so that our customers won't have to be. We take care of all of their PCB needs from technology to service to engineering. Our goal is to have our customers rely on us to handle their printed circuit board needs as if we were part of their company. You might say that we are our customers' PCB procurement department. We strive to make our relationship with our customers as seamless as possible."

As part of the process, Alex explains that he seeks and finds the best possible PCB partners. "We seek them out, we visit them, we survey them and then we try them out. We want to make sure that we deal with the very best PCB fabricators in the industry. We constantly monitor their performance to assure that their quality and delivery are always outstanding. We also work with them to be as competitive as possible while making sure that they also can make a decent profit so that everyone wins. It's terribly important to keep our vendors happy to be working with us. If they are happy with our relationship, then they will give us the best products possible." This operating philosophy is especially important because it goes right down the line. "To keep our customers happy." Alex continues, "we have to keep our partners happy. After all, our customers trust us to solve their PCB needs and this is something that we take very seriously. This is where the `value added' comes into play. If we do not add value to the equation then we are just another broker, and that is not our goal."

Since its founding in 2005, San Francisco Circuits has grown at a rate of 30 percent a year. There are now seven experienced professionals on the team, all of them trained in outstanding customer service and technical support. Alex personally oversees all aspects of the business to make sure that they provide their customers with the best value in printed circuit boards.

SFC is always learning, finding new ways to bring value to its customers. In the past year for example the company created the "PCB School" to educate customers, keeping them up to date on the latest technologies and capabilities that are being developed. To be an SFC customer is to be kept informed as to what is going on in the PCB industry.

Education Works Both Ways
When talking about educating the customers, Alex claims that this is a two-way street: "It's very simple; the more our customers know about PCBs the easier they are to serve. We are always learning about new cutting edge technologies and it behooves us to make sure that we pass this knowledge on to our customers. We recently started putting out monthly newsletters which are filled with all sorts of valuable information about our industry, our technology and our capabilities. We have partnered with industry expert and inventor Robert Tarzwell who allows us to offer free downloads of some of his more basic technology e-books. We have had an excellent response to this effort. We find that our customers appreciate us more if we provide them with as much information as possible. If we can make a buyer or an engineer or a designer look good then we in turn look good. This is what our company is all about."

One of the most unique things about San Francisco Circuits is its ability to adapt solutions to customers' specific needs. Recently, the company launched a program focused on contract manufacturers. Traditionally most PCB companies don't like working with contract manufacturers; they find them cold and calculating basing their purchasing decision only on bottom line process rather than value. The team at San Francisco Circuits looked at the concept of creating a partnership with contract manufacturers as a real challenge. They felt that if they could get EMS providers to value SFC's services, this would be a major accomplishment.

Danovich explains, "Much of the industry does not like working with contract manufacturers for whatever reason. We on the other hand have been working with them for a number of years and have never had any serious issues. The CEM market is huge, there are still almost two thousand companies in the US and most of them buy PCBs — a lot of PCBs. It is not good business to ignore them. Actually we feel that CEMs are a great fit for us considering our Borderless Boards philosophy. They buy all kinds of boards all kinds of technologies and services and we sell all kinds of boards, technologies and services. So right now we are developing a plan that will appeal to the CEMs. Our CEM service plan will be designed to provide the contract manufacturers with the exact type of PCB supply chain package that they need."

With six very successful years under their belt, SFC looks towards the future with a great deal of optimism. They feel they are poised to partner with their customers standing side by side with them ready to handle their PCB needs both today and in the future." Alex's thoughts about his company's future, he said, "It's very simple. At the end of the day we all have the same goal — delivering happiness. By working together, combining our integrity and respect, expertise and experience we make our companies stronger, our industry stronger and yes, even our country stronger in the long run. Our goal at San Francisco Circuits is to provide our customers with the best value in printed circuit boards possible. We want to provide our customers with so much intrinsic value that they will feel that we are a dream company to work with as well as work for."
