Speedline Intros SPI Print Optimizer
MPM Momemtum platform.
Franklin, MA — Speedline Technologies has introduced the SPI Print Optimizer, now available with MPM printers. The SPI Print Optimizer utilizes measurements from the end-user's automated, 3-D Solder Paste Inspection (SPI) machine as part of an integrated, closed-loop system to align the printed circuit board to the stencil using X, Y and theta correction.
Positional or registrational accuracy is a critical success factor to the print process. Component miniaturization and lead-free processing emphasize this importance. Although top-performing printers are stable in their operation, other variables such as stencil changes, non-linear stretch, tooling, boards, and environmental factors can negatively impact print quality. Often, operator intervention is required to compensate for these factors leading to increased cost and process variability.
By utilizing closed-loop feedback, the SPI Print Optimizer monitors and improves the entire print process with on-the-fly corrections based on real time data. This optimizes solder paste deposition and improves solder joint and, ultimately, end product reliability. The SPI Print Optimizer system is available with industry-leading MPM printers including the Momentum series and Accela.
