ASC Intros New Bonding Material for RF Applications
West Chicago, IL — American Standard Circuits, Inc. (ASC) has added Electrasil-3 to the Electrasil family of products. Electrasil materials are thermally and electrically conductive interface solutions for PCBs. The new Electrasil-3 material, utilizes a thin film or screen-printed paste to efficiently transfer heat from the ground plane of a PCB to the heat sink so that the electronic components do not heat up while functioning.
Electrasil-3 is a low-cost alternative to the company's earlier versions — Electrasil-1 and Electrasil-2 — and possesses all of the superior heat transfer and stability characteristics of its predecessors. The material bonds PCBs to heat sinks, specifically for RF applications.
According to the company, the new material is a low cost alternative that delivers exceptional cooling performance and bonding characteristics. Because it is a silicone-based elastomer, it has excellent bond strength and thermal shock resistance.
