Glue Dots: Small MatrX® Dots
Pattern of glue dots on backing tape.
New Berlin, WI — Glue Dots® International (GDI), an Ellsworth Adhesives company, has added Small MatrX to its MatrX product line. MatrX is a pattern of pressure-sensitive adhesive micro-dots.

Small MatrX is engineered for applications that demand low profile adhesive solutions and is available in 1/4-in. wide and 1/2-in. wide permanent adhesive patterns, with a thickness range of 3-5 mils. According to the company, Small MatrX applies smoothly and delivers all the same properties of Large MatrX in a smaller footprint. The development of this product is a direct result of the high demand for MatrX in applications that require a thinner profile pattern. Along with the uses in existing markets, the company expects new opportunities to open for prospective customers and distributors. Pressure-sensitive MatrX is described as a faster, easier, and safer method of substrate-to-substrate bonding. The product offers a clean alternative to transfer tape and bonds instantly. It is safer than hot melts, cleaner than liquid glues, and provides clean cut-off with no residue or waste.

Using the triggerless, refillable Dot Shot® Pro (DSP) applicator, the rolls are easily interchangeable allowing the operator to switch from small pattern to large pattern in seconds. The lightweight DSP also allows the operator to switch from traditional Glue Dots Brand Adhesives to MatrX using the same device. When used in conjunction with each other, the DSP and MatrX are especially suitable for project-oriented environments like contract packaging facilities, sheltered workshops, print binderies, and fulfillment houses due to the lightweight design and ergonomic friendliness of the applicator.
