Northwire Intros Flame Retardant Power Cords and Cables
Osceola, WI — Northwire Technical Cable has introduced EcoPower, an environmentally friendly power cord that is halogen-free, flame-retardant (HFFR), PVC-free, and UL listed. According to the company, it is the industry's first HFFR power cord that is UL 62 approved. EcoPower is flexible, durable and guaranteed to perform in harsh environments.
The power cord jacket material provides an ecologically aligned alternative to traditional PVC and other materials. EcoPower does not contain phthalates and complies with current and future regulations, exceeding the requirements of many applications for which it was designed. The new UL 62-approved power cord and cables are suitable for medical devices, computers, consumer electronics, aerospace, marine and shipboard, transit and other applications where the protection of people, the environment and equipment from toxic and corrosive gas is critical.
The new cables and UL-approved power cords are engineered to withstand abrasion and extreme temperatures (-50 to +105°C). They resist oil, abrasion, kinks and marring. They pass 850 cycles when tested to UL abrasion test 1510, and are VW-1 and FT-2 rated for finished cable. EcoPower is available in black and custom colors and in retractile cord configurations.
