Stackable DC Fans from Orion
Flattened edges make fans stackable.
Dallas, TX — Orion Fans division of Knight Electronics, has developed a series of low-profile, stackable DC fans. Designated the OD172SAPL Series, the stackable, low profile, aluminum DC fans have two flat sides and measure just 172 x 150 x 38mm (6.77 x 5.9 x 1.5-in.).
According to the company, comparable fans of this size are round, but the SAPL-frame has two flat sides that allow for stacking the fans side-by-side with no wasted space. The result is that these fans have a much lower profile than typical 172mm (6.77-in.) round fans, making them suitable for a variety of applications, including telecom racks and enclosures, as well as for ventilation in appliances and white goods, such as cooling and refrigeration units. The stackable fans are constructed with a diecast aluminum frame and a PBT, UL94V-0 plastic impeller. The fans incorporate a dual ball bearing system and a polarity protected, auto restart, brushless DC motor. The DC fans are also available with tachometer (5V/TTL) output, locked rotor alarm (5V/TTL), as well as thermistor, PWM and constant speed controls.
Available in 12, 24 and 48VDC versions, the fans voltage ranges from 8 to 14, 15 to 28, and 28 to 63VDC, respectively. Airflow ranges from 120 to 225CFM (3398 to 6371cdm/m), with speeds from 2000 to 4000RPM and maximum static pressure from 0.35 to 0.73H
O. Operating temperature ranges from -20 to +80°C, and life expectancy (L10) is up to 60,000 hours.
