FDK Adds SIP DC-DC Converter
SIP DC-DC converter.
San Jose, CA — FDK Corporation has extended its DK Series of non-isolated, point-of-load (POL) DC-DC converters with the addition of a new product in a low profile single in line (SIP) package. The FPDK12TR8006PSV converter delivers up to 6A of output current at a power density exceeding 950 Watts/-in.
. It has an efficiency of up to 93 percent and provides a complete power conversion solution without the need for external input and output capacitors.
Like other products in the DK Series, the converter is designed for a wide range of telecommunications, data communications, computing, industrial, and consumer applications where board space, cost, profile, efficiency, and reliable operation in elevated temperature environments are critical.
It is being offered in a 0.394 x 0.220-in. (10.0 x 5.6mm) SIP package, with a height of 0.472-in. (12.0mm). Occupying a footprint of less than 0.1-in.
), this converter provides considerable space savings over discrete on-board solutions. Its low profile makes it particularly suitable for high-density racks, blade systems, and consumer applications with limited board-to-board and board-to-case clearances.
The converter operates from a 5.6 to 14.0VDC input and provides a tightly regulated programmable output voltage in the range of 0.8 to 6.6VDC. It is a true single-input converter in that it does not require an external Vcc (bias) supply for operation. At an output voltage of 3.3VDC, this 6A converter delivers the full rated output current with no derating up to 65°C with 400LFM (2m/s) airflow. It has programmable output voltage, remote ON/OFF, over-current and over-temperature protection, and start up into a pre-biased output.
