Jena, Germany — Goepel electronic has introduced a new controller series named SFX/ASL1149-(x), an addition to the company's Scanflex® JTAG/Boundary Scan hardware platform. Scanflex (SFX) controllers have three integrated interfaces for GBit Ethernet, USB2.0 and Cabled PCI Express, and includes three models in different performance classes.

According to the company, today's JTAG/Boundary Scan controllers must not only perform well, they must be capable of being integrated and flexible enough to work with different infrastructures and changing application demands. This new introduction can be applied between different target environments while being controlled through the Internet.

The controller is the first to have three integrated Gigabit interfaces in one device — available in three performance classes A, B and C. The models differ in the maximum TCK frequency (20-, 50- , and 80MHz, respectively) and in the degree of implementation of the enhanced Space chip set for high performance scan operations. Unlike conventional solutions, the integrated Fastscale technology allows an upgrade of the controller's performance class on the fly, without intricate fitting of additional hardware. Standard features on all Scanflex controllers include Adycs II for signal path delay compensation, and Hyscan for dynamic splitting of serial TAP vectors and parallel I/O vectors. The device can be controlled online by an embedded web server.

An optional bridge provides for PCI Express to Cabled PCI Express connectivity by a plug-in card. The distance between PC and controller can be up to seven meters.

In combination with additional modular Scanflex components, such as Scanflex TAP transceivers and SFX Modules, LAN, USB and Cabled PCI Express controlled Boundary Scan systems, it is possible to configure up to eight Test Access Ports (TAP) and 31 additional functional modules.
