A.T. Wall: Sidewall Frames for Circuit Packs
Variety of sidewall frames for IC packages.
Warwick, RI — A.T. Wall Company is offering side wall frames for hybrid microelectronic circuit packages used in defense applications worldwide. These tubular frames serve as sidewalls for hermetically sealed flat packs that demand restrictive dimensional tolerance and precise metallurgical qualities.
The company utilizes an unusual manufacturing process involving hydraulic press forming of nickel alloy plate circles into cups, followed by traditional tube annealing, cold drawing, and cutting to size. It is reportedly the only side wall frames manufacturer capable of producing Kovar
tubular frames through this process. The company also offers a number of secondary operations, including lap grinding and sidewall hole piercing.
The company offers an array of materials, shapes and sizes, including nickel-iron alloys, carbon steel stainless steel, and copper. Shapes include squares, rectangles, rounds and custom shapes. The side wall frames are offered in wall thicknesses from 0.010 to 0.25-in. (0.254 to 6.35mm), outside dimensions (length x width) from 0.062 x 0.032-in. (1.5748 x 0.8128mm) to 4 x 2-in. (101.6 x 50.8mm), and heights from 0.025 to 2-in. (0.635 to 50.8mm).
