Tecate Intros Metallized Film Capacitors

San Diego, CA — Tecate Industries has released two new film capacitors based on advanced segmented metalized film technology. The (PET) film Type 9114 capacitors and polypropylene (PP) film Type 9014 film capacitors are offered to eliminate the risk of short-circuit failure and are supplied with voltage options of 250, 450 and 450VDC/220VAC. A wide range of capacitance values and case sizes are also available to provide engineers with maximum design flexibility.

According to the company, the RoHS-compliant, non-inductive capacitors have exceptional self-healing properties to support long product life, and are flame-retardant epoxy resin coated.

The company's new segmented metallized film capacitors are designed to function in a broad array of active filter circuits in which high capacitance stability, excellent dielectric absorption, and self-healing performance are required. They are commonly specified for use in converters, and switch mode power supplies (SMPS) for laptop and desktop computers, as well as industrial equipment.

The new (PET) film Type 9114 capacitors are available in 17 capacitance options in a range from 0.1µF to 10µF and at voltages of 250 or 450VDC. They are provided in sizes ranging from 5.5 x 12.5 x 9.0mm up to 17.5 x 31.0 x 26.5mm.

The PP TYPE 9014 capacitors have a very high dv/dt value and a voltage of 450VAC/220VAC in 11 capacitances from 0.15µF to 3.3µF, in sizes ranging from 5.5 x 18.0 x 9.5mm, up to 16.0 x 31.0 x 24.0mm.

Both types of capacitor are rated for an operating temperature range of -40 to +85°C with full rated voltage applied. Capacitance tolerances are ±5 percent, ±10 percent and ±20 percent. Dielectric strength is 1.6Vr for 2 seconds, and dissipation factor is 1.0 percent max. at 1KHz at 25°C.
