SynQor Develops First Extended Input Range MIL DC/DC Converters

Boxborough, MA — SynQor has added a new product family to its portfolio of Hi-Rel DC/DC converters, the MQFL-28E series. Incorporating the company's field-proven high-efficiency synchronous rectifier technology, this advancement results in the only wide range input DC/DC converters developed specifically for the Military/Aerospace industry.

The converters handle up to 120W while meeting the long-term over-voltage surges in the input voltage specified by MIL STD 704(A-F), RTCA/DO-160E, and DEF STAN 61-5. The MQFL-28E converters accept continuous input voltages of 16-70V while permitting broader transient input voltages of 16-80V for 1 second.

The converters are available in 11 standard single output voltages including 1.5, 1.8, 2.5, 3.3, 5, 6, 7.5, 9, 12, 15 and 28V. Dual output converters are also available with output voltages of ±5V, ±12V and ±15V with the capability of providing up to 80 percent power from either output. These feature-rich MilQor Hi-Rel MQFL-28E converters operate at efficiencies up to 91 percent and are designed to operate from -55 to +125°C with multiple screening options for stringent environmental requirements.

The converters are housed in the full-size (FL) industry standard package using the company's innovative QorSeal packaging technology which ensures survivability in harsh environments, long-term storage and provides the latest technology in tin whisker mitigation. Standard features include fixed switching frequency, parallel operation with current share, remote sensing, output trim adjust, clock synchronization, primary and secondary referenced enable, continuous short circuit and overload protection, and input under-voltage lockout and input over-voltage shutdown. Complimentary MQME-28E EMI filter module solutions rated at 320W (20A) are available which include transient suppression circuitry, enable pass-through circuitry, and reverse polarity protection.

The MQFL-28E converters are compatible with industry standard formats, have no opto-isolators, and follow NAVSO P3641A and MIL-HDBK-1547A component derating guidelines. MQFL-28E MilQor converters are designed and manufactured to comply with a wide range of military standards, including Mil-Std-461(C, D, E) and RTCA/DO-160E (Section 22).
