Conveyor Tech: Plastic Modular Belt System
Modular plastic conveyor belt system.
Milford, OH — Conveyor Technologies Ltd.'s advanced plastic modular belt conveyors are designed to provide increased life and capability, as well as reduced operating cost, in a high-performance package. The conveyors combine the wear and abuse resistance of plastic modular belting with synchronized sprocket pre-loading, reduced chordal action, belt back tension, and dual dynamic "center" tracking provides optimum overall performance.
The new Modular Plastic Belt (MPB) Conveyors reportedly combine increased durability, improved performance and reduced maintenance in a quiet, compact package. The MPB conveyors are available with 0.5 or one-in. pitch belting in widths from two to 24-in. and lengths to 29 feet; they are suitable for a large range of industrial, packaging, labeling, automation and processing systems. A 200-degree positive-contact drive sprocket belt engagement, combined with the elimination of return link contraction, lower chordal action, and center tracking, contribute to greater belt and sprocket life and smooth, quiet operation.
Maintenance costs are lowered by reduced component wear, self-aligning sealed-for-life bearings, and a compact quick-change direct drive. A tip-up tail section permits interior access without belt separation. Center tracking eliminates belt lateral end-drift and potential belt run-off, as well as virtually eliminating belt and guide edge-wear.
The quiet, compact drive occupies approximately one-half the space of conventional systems, and the reduced height beyond the drive end allows the conveyors to fit into shallow height applications. The drive is devoid of belts, chain, sprockets, couplings and their related maintenance, and it can be totally replaced and ready to run in under five minutes. In addition, the drive does not require disengagement when removing, or installing the belt.
