Tamper-Resistant Pushbuttons from NKK
Scottsdale, AZ — NKK Switches has introduced its new YB2 Series of 22mm pushbuttons offered in both illuminated and non-illuminated models. These tamper-resistant, 22mm panel seal switches are suited for applications in public locations or where there is a need for greater protection from environmental conditions, including medical equipment and industrial and commercial control panels.
The new pushbuttons are tamper resistant, flush mount, panel seal with super low profile. The dust-tight and splash-proof panel seal design protects the switches against low pressure jets of water from all directions and meets IP65 of IEC60529 standards.
At 1.8mm, these pushbuttons have one of the shortest above panel dimensions in the industry. Unique among its competitors, the YB2 Series exhibits a short behind-the-panel body measuring only 24.5mm. In addition, the pushbuttons have a tamper resistant 19mm actuator with a distinctive long stroke and user-friendly actuation. Design engineers can choose either power-rated or logic-level options. Ratings are 3A at 125VAC, 3A at 250VAC or 3A at 30VDC for power models, and 0.4VA maximum at 28VAC/DC maximum for logic-level versions. Available in SPDT and DPDT momentary or maintained action, this series provides crisp actuation through the snap-action contact mechanism, which helps ensure clear circuit status. Terminals are combination solder lug and 0.110-in. quick connect. The epoxy seal locks out flux, dust, solvents and other contaminants, as well as securing the terminals for contact stability.
Illuminated models are available with bright or superbright LEDs in blue, white, red, green or amber, with matching color caps and built-in ballast resistors. Custom legends on the actuator are available upon request. Bezel options are silver or black. Choice of cap colors for non-illuminated models includes white, red, green, yellow or metallic silver for enhanced panel design.
The new switches have a flammability rating of UL94V0 and are cULus Recognized. Mechanical life is 1,000,000 operations minimum for momentary circuits, and 200,000 operations minimum for maintained circuits. Electrical life is 100,000 operations minimum.
