Johnstech Edge Contactors Used on New Testers
New test system using Edge 400a contactors.
Minneapolis, MN — Johnstech Edge 400a Test Contactors from Johnstech International Corporation are being used by King Tiger Technology, Inc. on its new KT-3 Series Testers, for testing DDR3, DIMMs and SODIMMs. Demonstrations of this technology alliance premiered at the Intel Developers Forum (IDF) in August and also at the SEMICON Taiwan Show.

The Edge 400a Series of Test Contactors was designed specifically to meet the challenges of today's low-voltage (1.8V and 1.5V) high-speed DDR3 Memory Modules. The patented technology combines a modular design for easier component configuration/replacement and improved warped-Module handling capability.

Standardized reference designs (to JEDEC specs) are offered in the company's SelecTest Program for quick order turn. To meet multi-site requirements, standard and custom designs are available for 8, 16, 32 and 64 parallel test options. Edge 400a is also used in DIMM, DDR-DDR5 and PCI®/PCI Expressµ applications.

Electrical specifications for 1.0mm pitch: insertion loss, -1dB at 12.2GHz; return loss, -20dB at 2.8GHz; crosstalk, -20dB at 20.5GHz; leakage current, <10pA at 10V; self inductance, 0.82nH; mutual inductance, 0.31nH; self capacitance, 0.56pF; mutual capacitance, 0.21pF.

KingTiger has combined a traditional Automatic Test Equipment (ATE)-style tester with its new, patented Behavioral Test Technology (BTT) to produce a totally new test system. The KT-3 Series Tester offers advanced programming features and high frequency testing on DDR2/DDR3 devices and modules. BTT enables test engineers to use actual applications such as PCs as test pattern generation sources, thus more closely replicating real world test conditions.
