UltraVolt® Releases Precision Hi-V Power Systems

Ronkonkoma, NY — UltraVolt®, Inc. has developed a line of configurable precision high-voltage power systems for electron-beam applications that provides all the power sources needed to operate a variety of industry-standard precision electron guns. According to the company, the power system offers exceptional stability and low noise to match the performance of a precision electron-beam source.

Called the "MMS-EB" Series, the new power systems will be available with PPM level temperature coefficient, ripple, regulation, and stability. They will be configurable as 3-, 4-, or 5-bias electron gun high-voltage power supplies for beam, filament, extractor, suppressor, and lens voltages. The initial design will utilize off-the-shelf high-voltage power supply (HVPS) modules and accessories from 0 to 62VDC to 40kVDC at 0 to 4 watts to 30 watts.

All "MMS-EB" Series systems contain an extremely quiet isolated hot deck featuring extremely low common-mode noise rated for up to 15kV beam supplies and 40kV bias supplies on the beam. Higher beam voltages will be available in the future.

These new high-voltage systems reportedly offer never-before-seen precision in a standard-product power supply: outputs at <25ppm to <10ppm temperature coefficients per °C, <10ppm to <5ppm load regulation and line regulation, and <200ppm to <1ppm ripple. The systems offer high performance with short-term stability (up to 1 week) at less than 10ppm and long-term stability (3 years) at less than 300ppm.

The high-voltage power supply systems can operate in half-quiet mode, which latches HVPS programming DACs while permitting ADCs to monitor HVPS outputs. When the system operates in full-quiet mode, HVPS programming DACs are latched and ADC multiplexers stop.
