ECD Intros Thermal Profiler
Thermal profiler.
Milwaukie, OR — ECD has introduced a new thermal profiling product called the V-M.O.L.E.® that is designed to complement both board profilers such as the 20-channel MEGAM.O.L.E.®20 and the industry standard SuperM.O.L.E.® Gold, and oven profilers such as OvenRIDER®, and OvenWatch®.

The new product provides a fast, easy, and very affordable way to both verify and specify thermal profiles. Unique to the V-M.O.L.E. and MEGAM.O.L.E.20 is the ability for an engineer to pre-define the profile Go/No-Go criteria, while the production operator verifies with the push of a button.

The "OK Button," first introduced in the MEGAM.O.L.E.20, gives one-touch profile verification with a clear green (Go) or red (NO-Go) signal right on the profiler. In addition, operators are given warnings on battery, core temperature, and TC connectivity to eliminate wasted runs. This true technology improvement should prove especially suitable for production environments needing to ensure ongoing quality, while maximizing product throughput. One of the problems encountered with high-volume runs is the need for repeated profiling of the same prototype PC board to assure that target profiles are met. The V-M.O.L.E. enables greatly simplified verification of a target profile through strategic placement of a minimal number of thermocouples. This saves time in TC attachment, and cost in TC replacement.

The unit is powered by the company's MAP software, which will also process data from non-ECD profilers/data loggers. According to the company, the unit's affordability for multiple lines, "readiness" indicators, the rechargeable lithium polymer battery, "OK Button," Target-10 software, and TC placement guide, all contribute to higher quality, greater throughput, and true low cost of ownership.
