Ascentech Provides Product Reliability Testing Instruments to Microtek Labs
Gen3 Auto-Sir test system.
Chester, CT — Ascentech, LLC, North American distributor for GEN3 Systems Ltd. products, recently provided Microtek Laboratories, Inc., with laboratory equipment for CAF, ECM and Surface Insulation Resistance testing. Microtek Laboratories offers the full spectrum of electronic interconnection test and education services. In addition to providing test results and data interpretation, Microtek offers specialized client services such as failure analysis and test program development.

Microtek's technical staff can produce customized test programs that aid in identifying the cause of manufacturing problems. If necessary, the company can also assist in mediating and resolving customer-supplier disputes. Working in close partnership, Microtek Laboratories serves as an extension of its customers' facilities, helping to sharpen the product manufacturing and development picture.

The AUTO-SIR System purchased by Microtek measures insulation resistance, typically on test coupons, during artificially elevated temperature and humidity condition cycles. The goal of SIR, CAF and ECM testing is to catch dangerous propensities for failure mechanisms, such as unacceptable electrical leakage under humid conditions, corrosion or metal migration. Tests performed are defined by Standards bodies that include: IPC, IEC, ISO, J-STD, Bellcore and others.
