Remstar Intros Position Indicator Technology
QuickPick position indicator on carousel. .
Westbrook, ME — The new Remstar QuickPick® Position Indicator (QPi) technology is designed to increase accuracy, picking speed, storage density and reduce operator training in high volume order fulfillment operations such as medical device manufacturing. The QPi moving light bar raises and lowers to indicate the active shelf and carousel, using flashing arrows to pinpoint the exact location of needed parts.

The system can automatically pre-position allowing an operator to pick from one carousel while the other is rotating, eliminating wait time. The new light system is intended to assist operators picking a specific item quickly and accurately, providing increased accuracy. The QPi system is suitable for wide shelves or shelves with multiple pick cells, with the ability to indicate up to 26 positions along the face of the shelf. It can also move to the correct shelf height with positioning accuracy of 1/10-in. in the vertical axis. Also being shown is the company's vertical carousel, the design that maximizes the use of overhead space and can recover up to 75 percent of the floor space required for traditional shelving systems. The vertical carousel consists of shelves that rotate up or down via the shortest path, delivering items to an ergonomically positioned pick window.
