Bomar Intros Shielded Connectors & Boots
Shielded connector and boot.
Ledgewood, NJ — Bomar Interconnect Products, Inc. has added a shielded version of the company's Category 6 EZ-RJ45
(P/N 300668SEZ) connector, as well as a snagless boot (P/N CBX600EZ). The EZ Series is comprised of connectors rated for CAT 5, and CAT 5e as well as CAT 6, and is specifically engineered to simplify twisted pair terminations.
The connector's simple, one-piece design has no bars or liners, and enables technicians to simply slide the wire through the connector and out the front, making it easy to visually confirm the wiring pinout prior to crimping. To further optimize electrical performance, the technician is able to firmly pull the connector over the cable jacket and seat it securely in the rear of the connector to minimize the distance between the wire twists and contacts. The EZ Series accepts both solid and stranded wire for faster terminations with reduced scrap.
The new shielded connector exceeds the CAT 6 performance requirements per TIA/EIA-568-B when used in conjunction with a standard strain relief boot, or the new snagless boot. It is therefore suited for the widest range of high-speed residential, telecommunications, and broadband communications applications where better insertion loss, near end crosstalk (NEXT), return loss and equal level far end crosstalk (ELFEXT) are required.
In addition to preventing cable retraction snags, the new snagless boot provides an extended release mechanism for the connector and supplementary strain relief. The boots are installed prior to crimping and become permanently affixed to the connectors. They can be crimped with a standard tool, and then trimmed with a cutter or small utility knife, or with the company's crimp tool (P/N BD45000) which crimps and trims the exposed conductors in one operation to make a uniform and positive crimp. The same tool also crimps and trims the company's unshielded CAT 5 and CAT 5e EZ-RJ45 connectors in one cycle.
The FCC compliant, UL rated CAT 6 EZ-RJ45 has 50 microinch gold plate.
