Cobar Now Licensed for SN100C Solder Paste and Wire
Nickel stabilized solder paste.
Breda, Netherlands — Cobar Europe BV, a member of the Balver Zinn Group, has acquired a global license to distribute solder pastes and wire using the proven SN100C alloy developed by Nihon Superior Co. Ltd. The license allows Cobar Europe and Cobar Solder Products (Londonderry, New Hampshire, USA) to sell SN100C solder paste and wire in specific territories allocated by Nihon Superior.
SN100C is a patented nickel stabilized tin/copper alloy that is based on the eutectic 99.3 percent tin 0.7 percent copper with a trace amount of nickel that produces a dramatic improvement in the alloy when used in a wavesolder application. Developed specifically for the lead-free process of mass soldering, SN100C operates under process conditions similar to those of conventional lead-containing alloys. With SN100C it is possible to achieve high productivity while still producing reliable joints cost-effectively.
Cobar's XF3 lead-free solder paste, developed to accommodate extended reflow profiles without the use of nitrogen, is based on Nihon Superior's patented SN100C-alloy. According to the company, with XF3, wetting on all common metal surfaces is excellent, yielding shiny joints reminiscent of leaded solders. It exhibits a robust printing window, printing at 150-200mm per second. SN100C-XF3 reportedly performs better in eliminating voiding when compared to any SAC-alloy.
