IEEE SECON Conference in San Francisco
New York, NY — The 5th Annual IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) Conference on Senor, Mesh and Ad Hoc Communications and Networks (SECON) will be held June 16 to 20 at the San Francisco Airport Crown Plaza hotel. Merged with the IEEE International Workshop on Wireless Ad Hoc and Sensor Networks (IWWAN), IEEE SECON will include the presentation of more than 100 technical papers, posters, demonstrations and workshops.
Current and potential uses for mesh and ad hoc networking include environmental studies, building structure analysis, factory monitoring, undersea instrumentation, implanted biological sensors for medical use and instantaneous monitoring of traffic and road conditions.
The conference's keynote address will be delivered by David E. Culler, professor of Computer Science at the University of California at Berkeley. Eric A. Brewer, professor within the Computer Science Division at UC Berkeley and lab director for Intel Research Berkeley, as well as Cyrus Behroozi, chief scientist at Tropos Networks, will also deliver keynote addresses during the WiMesh Workshop scheduled for June 16.
The three workshops include the First IEEE International Workshop on Wireless Networking Coding (WiNC 2008), which will address early stage research and late-breaking results in wireless network coding and network information theory, and the Third IEEE Workshop on Wireless Mesh Networks (WiMesh), which will feature core technical issues and current research problems in wireless mesh networking. The Third IEEE Workshop on Networking Technologies for Software Defined Radio (SDR) Networks will also explore the networking and communication protocols needed to facilitate the interconnection of CR/SDR platforms.
In addition, more than 80 other presentations dedicated to the discussion of the latest cutting-edge mesh and sensor network technologies as well as its applications, systems and algorithmic aspects will also be delivered during the conference?s technical program, poster sessions and demonstrations. Topics include New Architectures & Protocols, Modeling & Performance Evaluation, Cross Layer Design, Energy Efficiency, Survivability & Fault Tolerance, Network Security at all Layers, Industrial and Commercial Developments, Practical Implementations and Upcoming Research Challenges.
