Cobar: Bar Solder, Wire, SN100C Alloys
Lead-free bar solder.
Londonderry, NH — Cobar Solder Products, now part of the Balver Zinn Group, has introduced bar solder for U.S. users (for wave, selective, tinning, and similar applications) and other solder products, including SN100C alloys, to complement its product offering of solder pastes, fluxes, and cored wire solders. The company also offers solder paste in a variety of different formulations.
Among pastes being offered is XF3, a SN100C paste that produces strong, shiny, reliable joints with a wide process window reportedly reminiscent of lead-based solders.
According to the company, because it is now part of Balver Zinn. it can now complete its product families of solder pastes and fluxes, in particular by offering the new SN100C lead-free solder. SN100C is an alloy developed and patented by Nihon Superior Ltd, and has demonstrated superior long-term fatigue strength over silver-containing SAC-alloys. Being completely free of silver, SN100C shines as the only true remedy against Cu-migration into the Sn regions of the solder joint. It has been developed to accommodate extended reflow profiles without the use of nitrogen.
