UV III: Portable Curing System
Non-focusing UV curing scanner.
Bellingham, MA β A fully portable, hand-held UV curing system designed for use on three-dimensional parts that are coated with UV-curable coatings or adhesives is available from UV III Systems, Inc. The MULTICURE
™
UV Curing System uses a hand-held quartz lamp which produces a narrow band 365nm output (other spectrums available) for curing three-dimensional surfaces coated with UV-curable coatings or adhesives.
The system is especially suitable for use with UV formulated polyesters, epoxies, and composites, including Lawrence McFadden, Chemcraft, Akzo, and PPG. The system's lamp head is made of stainless steel and aluminum, with a comfortable handle, and the power supply uses 110/120V at 60Hz.
The simple-to-operate system uses a defocused lamp 3 to 8-in. scanned above the part that requires curing β for 10 to 30 seconds to achieve a quality finish. Applications include production, R&D, and surface defect repairs found in composites.
