Ascentech: Solder Paste Analyzer
Solder paste test system.
Chester, CT β€” Ascentech, LLC, North American distributor for the GEN3 Systems Ltd. products, has added the ShareGen SPA 1000 Solder Paste Analyzer to its product lineup. The analyzer reportedly provides fast and accurate testing to help control and manage solder paste in the production process. It helps reduce a range of defects including missing components, tombstoning, component misalignment, and non-wetting.

The analyzer can greatly reduce inspection and rework time and cost, thereby increasing profit β€” especially relevant for lead-free processes and ever smaller components.

The quality of am SMT assembly process depends heavily on the condition of the solder paste. New International standards have been introduced to measure certain essential solder paste conditions that, properly measured, will improve quality, increase process yields, and significantly reduce inspection and rework.

All of these tests can be carried out with the new multi-purpose ShareGen SPA 1000 test system. The analyzer is a 6-in-1 test system that can perform up to six separate tests that would previously have been performed by separate instruments, in accordance to IEC 61189-5 and IPC-TM-650 standards. It can also be used to conduct solder paste "Open Time" testing.
