Ultra-Wide Input DC/DC Converters from XP
Wide input converters.
Littleton, MA — XP Power has introduced its new JTH15 series of 15-Watt DC/DC converters. Fitting into a metal cased compact 2 x 1-in. (50.8 x 25.4mm) footprint, they are suited to low power, board mounted designs. The series can accommodate a wide 4:1 range of input voltages, from 9 to 36VDC or 18 to 72VDC. Both single and dual output versions are available.

The single output device is available with +3.3, +5, +12 or +15V rails, while the dual version has ±5, ±12 or ±15V outputs. According to the company, the converters are fully regulated, with a line regulation of ±0.5 percent and a load regulation of ±0.5 percent, 10-100 percent load. Input to output isolation is rated at 1,500VDC. The JTH15 series will suit most environments without the need for additional heat sinking or airflow. The units operate from -40°C to +100°C, with derating above 60°C. The converters have a high MTBF of >1.2 million hours to MIL-STD-417F for long life and high reliability.

With such a wide input range the converters are suited to a broad range of wireless, communication and industrial applications. The converters also offer the customer the option of a more powerful, drop-in replacement for older 10W converters with the same footprint. Another example is that of a customer application capable of being powered off two different battery voltages, 12 or 24VDC. Using the JTH15 series, the same converter can be used in either system, rather than having to specify a different converter for each one. For designs that might require it, an optional remote on/off feature can be incorporated.
