Arrow Electronics Inks Disty Pact with Empower Technologies
Richmond, BC, Canada — Empower Technologies (TSX.V: EPT) Arrow Electronics, Inc. of Melville, NY have signed a distribution agreement for the distribution of Empower's LEOs® (Linux Embedded Operating System) development kit — the LDK591x, which is an embedded hardware/software development kit for Texas Instruments (TI) OMAP591x dual-core processors. Leveraging the performance and DSP/BIOSM Link provided by TI's OMAP™ dual core processors, the LDK591x runs Empower's LEOs operating software out of the box and can be leveraged by developers as a powerful design reference for both hardware and software to significantly reduce device development time and cost. Subject to mutual approval, other current and future Empower LDK development kits based on different embedded CPU platforms can also be added to Arrow's distribution.

According to Arrow, it has observed a continuing trend, within its embedded customer base, where operating system selection is occurring prior to the hardware platform decision. Responding to the requirements of these customers, Arrow will now be able to offer Linux-based solutions from Empower for TI OMAP processors. Empower Technologies is a member of the TI DSP Third Party Network, a worldwide organization of independent companies that offer products and services supporting TI DSPs. TI third parties provide expertise across a variety of applications, including audio, control, telecommunications, video and imaging and wireless communications.
