Heidenhain: New High Accuracy Linear Scale
Miniature linear scale.
Schaumburg, IL — Heidenhain Corporation is now offering LIDA 500 series linear scales to meet the need for constant miniaturization and reduction of mass. The new 20µm incremental linear scales are useful where installation space is limited, and offer measuring steps of 1µm to 0.1µm. Their reduced mass gives them higher dynamic capability.
The LIDA 500 scale series — the LIDA 583 and LIDA 573 — each have two smaller scanning fields with double-field scanning. In order to compensate for the known disadvantages of small scanning fields, the signal is corrected online electronically, thus producing better signals.
The new linear scales use glass scales as the measuring standard and each encoder has a reference mark at the midpoint. They provide a ±5µm accuracy grade, and are highly immune to contamination. As is characteristic of all LIDA encoders, easy mounting is provided. The devices offer 1 Vpp or TTL interfaces.
