Vision Engineering: 6x Super Long Working Distance
Optical magnification station.
New Milford, CT — Vision Engineering is introducing its new 6X Super Long Working Distance (SLWD) objective for Mantis Elite, to provide greater working distance for inspection and rework tasks. The Mantis stereo inspection system is used for the inspection and manipulation of PC boards. The expanded eyepiece (patented) technology gives users an extremely comfortable ergonomic advantage, especially when inspecting PC boards for long periods. With greater emphasis of health and safety management systems such as ISO 14001, the "eyepieceless" Mantis does everything possible for operator comfort.
According to the company, the new 6X objective lens does what it is supposed to, and provides operators with a super long working distance. This objective is designed to provide a solution for operators who require magnification during manipulation tasks. Traditionally, it can be quite challenging to use a higher magnification lens when manipulating samples due to the lack of working space or distance, which is often restrictive. With a standard 6X objective lens, working distances vary with each system. However, with the new 6X SLWD objective, the technician can expect to achieve an incredible 112mm of working distance with the Mantis Elite.
Manipulation tasks vary between applications but the more common manipulation tasks include reworking on printed circuit boards, especially where small boards with tight tracks need re-soldering. The 6X SLWD objective is supplied with a Fresnel lens which focuses the LED illumination onto the subject so that the illumination is maximized even with the 6X SLWD.
