BUD: First Stackable Plastic Enclosure
Stackable plastic enclosure.
Cleveland, OH — Bud Industries, Inc. has introduced its first stackable plastic electronics enclosure. The new Plasticase Style H enclosures incorporate a unique interlocking design that allows them to be stacked several high without slipping.

The stackable design is especially suitable for saving space on a desktop or benchtop, and for housing components that need to be mounted close together but cannot be in the same enclosure because they might interfere electrically with one another. Also it may be used as a standalone enclosure for small designs — a compact alternative to a conventional 19-in. rack enclosure.

The new case fits a number of applications, including metering or monitoring devices, test equipment, controllers, lab equipment and medical equipment.

Unlike some plastic enclosures, the front and rear panels slide out for easy modification by the end-user; for example, to add a keypad or read-out display. The company can also custom modify the enclosure before shipment.

The enclosure is constructed of durable, self-extinguishing ABS plastic material with a UL94V-0 flammability rating, the highest UL flammability rating available. The exterior has a mar-resistant textured surface with the base securely attached to the cover with four color-matched screws. Internal bosses allow for PC board mounting. Standard color is black. Plasticase Style H comes in 1.68 and 2.36-in heights; length and width are 9.18-in. and 5.25-in. respectively.
