Nearly all first-run advertisements in U.S.Tech are submitted electronically, rather than in film negatives, to work in conjunction with our electronic prepress. We look forward to working with our advertisers to achieve optimum print results.
If US Tech does not receive a paper proof prior to 10 days before publication, we will place and run the advertisement, if possible, but at the advertiser’s risk. We will make our best effort to overcome obvious file difficulties.
PUBLICATION/PRINTING METHOD
U.S. Tech is prepared in Quark/PC and is printed by web offset on premium newsprint paper. Saddle stitch binding is used. AAA/ABP SWOP standards apply.
MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONS
Preferred materials are electronic/data, and include by order of preference:
-
Adobe Acrobat PDFs, with all fonts embedded, and images/artwork distilled to no less than 200 dpi presuming placement into the U.S. Tech master file at 100%. PDFs may be emailed or supplied on CD. A color-, size-, and type-accurate accurate paper proof is required for first-time ad runs.
-
Quark for PC or Quark for MAC, with customary picture and font folders, master document and report. No compression should be necessary if sent on CD. If e-mailed and compressed, WinZip is preferred over Stuffit or other MAC-only alternatives.
-
Microsoft Word for PC documents with images imbedded. Not encouraged. Advertiser assumes risk of font replacement (be conservative) and final image quality. Such documents will be distilled at U.S. Tech and prepared into PDFs prior to placement.
PROOFS
High-quality inkjet or laser proof is adequate. U.S. Tech will make best attempt to match colors within industry-accepted parameters for newsprint publications.
