Lumex Intros Hi-Temp Resistant LEDs
High-heat LEDs.
Palatine, IL — Lumex is introducing its KoolBrite
family of surface-mount LEDs, specifically engineered to meet tough thermal dissipation demands. The LEDs use the company's specially-formulated ceramic substrate material, an unusual epoxy lens, and a manufacturing process that can cast the lens directly onto the ceramic substrate.
The new LEDs are capable of withstanding wave soldering, while providing a usable operating life of 50,000+ hours with no loss of light output levels. The LEDs are especially suitable for applications that include illumination or indication on PC boards, annunciator and control panels, telecom switches and central office equipment, medical equipment, or anywhere that an SMT LED with high heat characteristics is needed.
The Koolbrite LEDs are available as single chip and dual chip, and all are lead-free. The single chip family uses state-of-the-art chemistries to deliver emitted colors that include amber, green, red, yellow, and blue. The dual chip version includes devices with bi-color output. Product choices include red/green, red/yellow, and yellow/green. Intensities range from 30 to 70mcd at I{Sf} = 20mA with a very wide viewing angle of 180°.
