CIT: Improved Capacity for Automotive Relays
Automotive relay.
Minneapolis, MN — CIT Relay & Switch has upgraded its automotive A9 Series relays, with new switching capacity to 40A. These automotive relays offer contact arrangement of SPST NO, using standard automotive fuses with nine options from 3A to 40A and accommodating industry standard resettable fuses as well. Coil voltage options are 6VDC, 12VDC and 24VDC.

Offering contact resistance of <50 milliohms initially, the maximum switching power is 420 watt with max switching voltage of 75VDC and max switching current of 30A. The company's certified manufacturing reportedly insures quality and continuous reliability. Standard, RoHS lead free, environmentally friendly (no cadmium) contacts are AgSnO2.

According to the company, the tested electrical life of the A9 Series is 100K cycles, 40A at 14VDC with mechanical life of 10M cycles. Insulation resistance is 100MΩ. at 500VDC.

The dielectric strength of the A9 Series coil to contact is 750V rms minimum at sea level and contact-to-contact is 500V rms. Shock resistance is 100m/s2 for 11 minutes with vibration resistance of 1.27mm double amplitude 10 to 40Hz. Copper alloy terminal strength is 8N. Operating temperature range is -40°C to +85°C and storage temperature is -40°C to +155°C. The A9 Series measures 35.5 x 25.5 x 21.0mm and weighs 32g. Applications include automotive and lamp accessories.
