Cherokee: Bus Converters for Data, Telecom
Bus converters.
Tustin, CA — Cherokee International has introduced a full range of CBE eighth-brick and CBQ quarter-brick DC/DC, non-isolated, intermediate bus converters for datacom applications — along with new prices. The converters are especially suitable for powering the myriad of non-isolated point of load (POL) converters downstream in distributed power architectures.
The converters are designed specifically to overcome many of the board-level power distribution issues of today's high-functionality silicon ICs used in server and storage applications, enterprise networks, central office, telecom, and networking equipment. The new pricing levels and ultra-high efficiencies make the bus converters cost-effective solutions that take advantage of the benefits of 48V systems, which have lower I

R losses — translating into higher system level efficiencies and ultimately lower total cost of ownership.
These converters also function well with today's POLs and discrete circuit designs to power current and future chip sets. In addition, these converters operate as smart DC transformers that run open loop, providing a balance in maximizing efficiency and output current while minimizing the component count for an economical solution.
The converters meet basic insulation requirements of EN60950 and come complete with vital industry standard features such as remote on/off, over-temperature protection, output over-current and over-voltage protection, and input under-voltage protection. Other features include 1500VDC input to output isolation, no minimum load requirements, constant frequency operation for predictable EMI characteristics, low ripple and noise, and auto restart after fault shutdown. Most converters are offered in both open frame and base plate versions.
