Novagard Intros UV/Dual Cure & UV Gels
Encapsulating and gasketing compounds.
Cleveland, OH — Novagard Solutions has introduced its patented, RTV 800 Series UV/Dual cure and RTV 800 Series UV Gels for use as encapsulants and gasketing materials in various appliance and electrical applications.
According to the company, the encapsulants and gasketing materials represent a breakthrough in UV/Dual cure silicone technology. The company has developed the product with cure speeds of less than three seconds, exceeding previously unattainable levels.
The company's new patented chemistry allows paste products to cure up to 5/8-in. thick with minimal energy requirements — resulting in significant time savings during actual production.
In addition, physical properties can be varied including the viscosity of encapsulants from a few hundred centipoises for spraying to several thousand for thick coating applications. Dual cure products offer assurance that shadow areas will fully cure. In addition, the product does not require sub-ambient storage. The new products are excellent for appliance and electrical applications where a seal is needed to dampen vibrations and/or seal out light or air. The 800 Series UV paste products can be foamed up to 1/4-in. thick — depending on the color of the material — with curing times in seconds. The products are especially suitable for or interior gasketing applications with availability in translucent and black.
Adding to the product lineup, the company if offering the RTV Series UV Gels for encapsulating sensitive electronic components. This technology offers a UV cured silicone gel for fast and simple production processes.
The RTV 800 Series UV gels are being offered as two different products of varying hardness with excellent dielectric properties, potting up to 1/4-in. thickness and cure speeds of less than three seconds with minimal energy requirements. Both RTV 800 UV gel products are clear and non-yellowing and the RTV 800-610 product is a 100 percent reactive system that will not leach silicone fluid.
