Low-Temp Potting Compounds from Epoxies, Etc.
Cranston, RI — Epoxies, Etc. has introduced its 20-2300 Series of Urethane Potting Compounds, which were developed for electronic assemblies that will be exposed to extremely low temperatures or wet environments. The compounds are able to maintain their flexibility and softness at low temperatures. According to the company, this feature in a potting compound is unique and important for many electronic applications.
The compounds have an operating temperature down to -40°C and a glass transition temperature of -72°C. This means that the flexible potting compound will have outstanding thermal cycling properties and low embedment stress on sensitive components. Another feature is the products' hydrolytic stability. They will not absorb moisture, so they are a suitable choice for wet environments. The compounds are offered in three different hardness's (Shore A 25-90).
