Newark & Cypress Semiconductor Sign Franchise Agreement
Chicago, IL — Newark, a subsidiary of global distributor Premier Farnell, has signed a franchise agreement with Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE: CY) to introduce design engineers to the manufacturer's PSoC® (Programmable System-on-ChipT) mixed signal arrays, USB controllers, and timing solution products.

"We are especially pleased to offer design engineers Cypress's unique PSoC® devices," said Jeff Shafer, Senior Vice President of Product Management at Newark. "A single chip can integrate as many as 100 peripheral functions with a microcontroller. That can save significant design time, board space, power consumption and system costs for a wide range of consumer, automotive and industrial applications."

"We are very excited to add Newark to our distributor line-up," said Phil DeMarie, vice president of Distribution Sales for Cypress. "Newark has developed a reputation for aggressive marketing and excellent customer service, and we anticipate that they will play a big part in helping us reach our goal of 20,000 customers for programmable products."
