IPC Designers Learning Symposiums
Bannockburn, IL — IPC Designers Council has released its lineup of Designers Learning Symposiums and certification workshops for the upcoming months. Developed for designers, by designers, the symposiums bring together industry experts to help electronics professionals keep up with ever-changing technologies and prepare for future challenges such as lead-free, embedded resistors, HDI/microvias, and more.

Starting at home, the first Designers Learning Symposium and workshops will be held at IPC headquarters in Bannockburn, IL, May 22-25. Finishing out the summer, Tektronix and the Pacific Northwest Designers Council Chapter will host designers on the West Coast, Sept. 19-22, in Portland, OR.

"There really isn't anything like it available to designers," said Ruth Delker, Sr. PCB Designer for Cipher Systems of Beaverton, OR. "The learning symposiums offer a grounded base of knowledge mixed in with real-world insight and local camaraderie that is invaluable to serious designers and their companies," she added.

Both symposiums will take the field with technical presentations on cutting edge technologies, techniques and software as well as ways to increase productivity and workflow. In addition, valuable roundtable discussions will provide excellent networking opportunities with technical experts, fellow PCB designers, Designers Council members, and key industrial suppliers.

Following the day-long symposiums, Certified Interconnect Designer (CID) and/or Advanced Certified Interconnect Designer (CID+) workshops will be held. The symposium and certification workshops are open to designers of all skill levels, as well as engineers, fabricators, manufacturers, etc.

Offering learned advice for the rookies, Dieter Bergman, a member of the symposium faculty and IPC director of technology transfer said, "Having been in the industry for a lifetime, I've seen many designers come and go. The ones with staying power are those who challenge themselves — by learning new techniques, trends and software. The designers who educate themselves and volunteer in the industry are the ones that set themselves and their companies apart."
