Cortec: Special Paper Inhibits Metal Tarnish
Tarnish-inhibiting paper protects products for storage or shipment.
St. Paul, MN — Cortec® Corporation's VpCIT Corrosorber Paper is a dual action tarnish-inhibiting protective paper specifically formulated for gold, silver, brass, copper and tin. The paper reportedly eliminates the need for coatings and tarnish removers that are often associated with precious metals by emitting vapor phase corrosion inhibitors and simultaneously absorbing corrosive gases. The VpCIT on the paper safely and quickly vaporizes reaching all metal surfaces to provide complete tarnish protection. The paper will not affect conductivity or surface resistivity. The product has a special coating that scavenges H2 gas, the enemy of precious metal. In addition, the paper lets the user know when replacement is needed. Through proprietary technology, the paper changes from a light blue-green to brown. This visual indicator ensures uninterrupted protection regardless of the environment.

VpCIT Corrosorber Paper can be used to protect electronic components, silverware, jewelry and during shipping, precious metals for storage or even while in use. VpCIT Corrosorber Paper combines packaging and tarnish protection into one step. It is non-toxic and contains no nitrites, phosphates, silicones, chromates, or other heavy metals and is effective against aggressive environments including salt air humidity, SO2, H2S and galvanic corrosion from dissimilar metals.
