Novatech Intros 170MHz Signal Generator Module
4-channel signal generator module.
Seattle, WA — Novatech Instruments, Inc. has introduced its Model DDS9m, a four-channel 170MHz Direct Digital Synthesizer (DDS) Signal Generator Module with 0.1Hz frequency resolution and 11.5ppm accuracy.
The module has four phase-synchronous sine wave outputs up to 170MHz, serial control, 500MHz external clock input along with an on-board TCXO (temperature compensated crystal oscillator), stable to 11.5ppm: all on a module of less than 83mm by 90mm.
Based upon the Analog Devices AD9959, the sig gen module provides 32 bits of frequency resolution, 10 bits of amplitude resolution, and 14 bits of phase resolution on each of the four channels. The small module size allows integration into test stations and other applications requiring multiple and frequency-agile outputs. When used with the external clock input, all DDS9m units can be synchronized to a system-wide frequency standard.
For ATE applications, the module can store up to 32k profile points consisting of phase, frequency, dwell time, and amplitude settings. The profile can then be sequenced automatically without further control from the host computer.
It can also be used as an evaluation board for the AD9959 ASIC. Simple text-based serial commands provide direct access to all AD9959 registers or the on-board micro controller can be bypassed to enable direct parallel access to the AD9959 via parallel I/O header pins.
