Ascentech Intros Gen3 Insulation Resistance Tester
Surface insulation resistance test system.
Chester, CT — Ascentech has unveiled new testing equipment for the evaluation of the long-term electrochemical reliability of electronics. The AUTO-SIR System, manufactured by Gen3 Systems, Ltd., evaluates electrochemical failure mechanisms before they can occur, using IPC/ISO/Bellcore, and other relevant standards. Ascentech has recently been named North American Distributor for Gen3 Systems products and provides sales as well as after-sales service and support for AUTO-SIR System customers and users. The AUTO-SIR System measures the surface insulation resistance, typically on test coupons, during artificially elevated temperature and humidity condition cycles. The goal is to catch dangerous propensities for failure mechanisms, such as unacceptable electrical leakage under humid conditions, corrosion or metal migration. Tests performed are defined by these standards bodies: IPC, IEC, ISO, J- STD, Bellcore and others.

GEN3 Systems, Ltd. was formerly known as Concoat Systems and is located in Farnborough, UK. It manufactures SIR test equipment, Solderability (wetting balance) test systems, as well as conformal coating equipment, and cleanliness test (Ionic) systems.
