Waldenburg, Germany – Würth Elektronik eiSos, together with its US subsidiary Wurth Electronics Midcom, will exhibit at electronica in Shanghai from March 14 to 16, 2018. Inside the Shanghai New International Expo Center (Hall E5 / Booth 5314), the manufacturer of electronic and electromechanical components will present its extensive range of legacy products, as well as some newly released ones too. These include novel SMD ferrites and two innovative plug connectors. Another focus of the exhibition program is on the expanded portfolio of aluminum electrolyte capacitors. Among other things, Wurth Electronics Midcom will provide information on its range of customized inductive components and the reference designs for Texas Instruments SN6501 and SN6505B. The highlight on the booth is a virtual reality demo to show engineers how they can work with the IC Ref Search and REDEXPERT design tools to always find the right inductors for their integrated circuits.

With WE-MPSB, Würth Elektronik eiSos presents the world’s first SMT ferrite series with specified peak current capability. The extremely low RDC allows the highest rated currents while generating minimal self-heating. The series is optimized for filtering highly efficient DC/DC switching controllers under harsh industrial environments and has the potential to prolong the service life of applications. The second product in the limelight is WE-XHMI, an encapsulated high current inductor with flat-wire contact. Compared with previous power chokes, the new series excels by virtue of its 50 percent lower DC resistance.

Secure connections without screws

Würth Elektronik eiSos unveils a new product family of innovative plug connectors - the REDFIT IDC SKEDD WR-WST connectors - which allow space-saving, solderless and reversible signal connections. The manufacturer uses the SKEDD patent from its sister company Würth Elektronik ICS for this innovative product. WR-WST is available in 4 to 20-pin versions and is suitable for permanent connections, as well as for temporary connections in programming and debugging. Another screwless product is the connection with the latest power plug connector from the REDCUBE product family. REDCUBE PLUG terminals press-fitted using twelve tin-plated pins milled from solid brass can be loaded with up to 120 A. With these heavy current contacts, the cable with plug is locked spring-loaded in a glass-fiber reinforced plastic housing. The screwless connection is established and released again by pressing on the housing from above.

Support for development and pre-series

Würth Elektronik eiSos will promote its extensive capacitor portfolio at electronica China, especially the area of aluminum-electrolyte capacitors in THT, SMT and Snap-In packages. At the same time, the manufacturer will draw attention to its wide range of services for developers. To facilitate selection of the suitable components from thousands of different capacitors, the component manufacturer offers 23 different design kits with free refills in the capacitor selection area alone. Additionally, the REDEXPERT online tool can be used to search for specifications, as well as its sample and minimal quantity service for development and pre-series. Customers can also receive individual advice from the company’s experienced field application engineers.

Cooperation with IC manufacturers

Würth Elektronik eiSos presents a high inductive power demoboard developed jointly with EPC. Based on a wireless mixer, the transmission of power up to 200 Watts is demonstrated. Together with ON Semiconductor, the component manufacturer will also showcase a fast charger kit at electronica Shanghai with which USB PD QC3.1 technology can be used: It fits into a vehicle cigarette lighter socket but offers up to 60 W charging power.
