SAN JOSE, CA - Yamaichi Electronics has developed a new 28Gbps copper cable product with both CFP4 and QSFP28 interface. Yamaichi demonstrates its performance at Designcon 2014 in Santa Clara CA.
Yamaichi is a market leader of CFP2/CFP4 high speed connector products and the first company who made these connectors available to the global market. Now Yamaichi introduces a first 28Gbps copper cable product using CFP4 interface in the market in addition to the QSFP28 copper cables. Yamaichi is offering both Active and Passive copper cable solutions, The Active copper cable supports a 28Gbps signal link up to 8m length at AWG26 cable and 5m length at AWG30 cable.
At the Designcon 2014, signal transmission performance is being demonstrated with CFP4 Active copper. The demonstration is 28Gbps eye diagram and bit error rate performance on full channel link while connecting to Altera Stratix V GT FPGAs board, and loop back connection of Tx/Rx channel at the other end of the cable.
Yamaichi CFP4 connector which used in this demo and QSFP28 connector (eQSFP+) are having a per channel signal transmission capability of 32Gbs.
The 28Gbps copper cables and connectors are being used at 100Gb Ethernet and Infiniband EDR systems all while using a 28Gb/s or 25Gb/s x 4 channels of signal configuration. These cables and connectors are expected to be used on future next generation 400Gb Ethernet systems as well.
