||Spokane Valley, WA — A paper titled "Lead Tinning Requirements for the 21st Century" is being presented by Roger Cox of ACE Production Technologies, Inc. during Technical Session MFX1 at the SMTAI in Fort Worth, Texas.
Technical Session MFX1, Challenges and Solutions for Liquid Soldering Processes, is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, October 15, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in Room 202D of the Fort Worth Convention Center.
The paper addresses the development and implementation of a molten solder component lead tinning process for various applications such as improving solderability, mitigating tin whiskers and eliminating gold embrittlement.
Additional topics will include detailed discussions of the refurbishing of legacy components, process steps to mitigate gold embrittlement, the conversion of RoHS components to tin-lead, techniques to mitigate the formation of tin whiskers, and the conversion of tin-lead components to RoHS compliant.
