CHANTILLY, VA - Chatsworth, California based telecom specialist Ktech Telecom has recently announced the expansion of their SMT assembly capabilities with the addition of a high performance line from APEX Factory Automation. (www.apexfa.com)

Since 1995, Ktech has been developing HDTV signal processors,  MPEG2  video products, and continues to develop new products required for Digital Cable Head-End operators.  When KTech Telecom was ready to build on their current business and upgrade their SMT equipment, they did a lot of shopping.

Steve Kuh, President of KTech Telecom, explained his perspective.   “The market is very competitive, with a lot of manufacturers offering aggressively priced SMT equipment.   We shopped the major players and decided on the Mirae Pick and Place with the SJ Inno Tech Stencil Printer from Apex FA.”

“After researching the primary manufacturers in this production class, we felt that Mirae and SJ Inno Tech offered excellent performance and long term reliability.  We really were sold on the durability and capability of the Korean manufacturing.   We take a variety of projects in, and having equipment that can place a wide spectrum of components is paramount to our success.”

“Reliable uptime was another critical consideration,” concluded Kuh.  “Apex Factory Automation had the turn key solution to satisfy all of our complex production needs as well as meeting our budgetary requirements.”

The new line includes the SJ Inno Tech HP-520S printer with 2D inspection and the Mirae Mx200LP.  Mirae placement machines s feature advanced linear motor technology providing high speed and placement accuracy of 25µ (3σ).  These flexible SMT assemblers are capable of placing 01005’s (0402 metric) through 3.5” X 1.18” (90mm X 30mm) large SMT devices using advanced optics and inspection systems.

Apex FA National Sales Manager Will Crist, commented: “These systems may be a best kept secret in the US, but included in a worldwide installed base of over 3,000 machines, Mirae has an established presence in North America.  And on close inspection, the value-performance ratio is clearly unmatched.”

Progressive EMS providers and OEM in-sourcers throughout North America are increasingly recognizing the unique new service and support commitment and transparent business model introduced by Apex Factory Automation. Their highly scalable equipment offering includes a comprehensive range of printing, placement and reflow from renowned Korean manufacturers SJ Inno Tech, Mirae and TSM.
