ACE Production Technologies, Inc., a leading supplier of selective soldering systems, introduces its new KISS-105 fully in-line large board format selective soldering system.
The KISS-105 is capable of soldering printed circuit boards up to 28” x 36” (700mm x 900mm) and can handle the size and weight of large backplanes and other oversized products. When equipped with a top-side preheater the KISS-105 can achieve Class 3 solder joints on printed circuit boards with a thickness of up to 0.354” (9mm).
Large boards are processed in a 1” (25mm) border frame which supports, locates and flattens the board. The frame mounted boards are conveyed into the KISS-105 in a normal SMEMA manner where they are optically aligned, located and camped into position. After precise flux application, preheating elevates the topside board temperature to a set temperature and maintains the temperature throughout the complete soldering cycle. Importantly the printed circuit board remains stationary throughout the entire soldering process to avoid component movement and eliminating the disruption of the solder fillets during the critical formation phase.
A fully-configured SMEMA compatible selective soldering platform, the KISS-105 is equipped with “Super Quick” motion and closed-loop positioning feedback with linear encoders. Rapid setup time and reduced time to achieve first production are expedited with the intuitive KISSware off-line programming software for ease of use. Other innovative features include program controlled conveyor width adjustment, positive PCB locating and flattening, fiducial alignment and skew correction.
