VALENCIA, CA –
Solid Concepts’ custom manufacturing solutions begin with rapid prototyping. The company has over 79 additive manufacturing machines, including PolyJet, PolyJet-Overmold, Stereolithography (SLA), Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), Direct Metal Laser Sintering (SLS), 3D Color Prints, and Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM). Their technologies can produce prototypes and end-use products in low-volume production. Additionally, Solid Concepts has tooling and injection molding, CNC machining, and cast urethanes.
Solid Concepts’ FDM technology incorporates materials that are ESD safe, the perfect complement to circuit board configurations, static-sensitive casings, and functional housings. The material provides static safe options with near limitless geometry. ABS-ESD7 Black is a conductive material with a surface resistance of 109 – 106 ohms preventing a buildup of static electricity. ABS-ESD7 material is used when a static charge can cause performance impairing damage or for use near flammable mixtures. Jigs, fixtures, assembly fixtures, and transport trays for electronic components and air ducting where a static charge may be generated are perfect applications for this material and process.
FDM works via a heated extrusion nozzle. Hot thermoplastics varying in properties are extruded layer by layer to additive manufacture a part. The plastic hardens upon meeting the air, and there is virtually no shrinkage with this additive manufacturing process. There is no tooling or machining required for this process, allowing cost-effective one-off products.
Solid Concepts has been in the 3D Printing/ additive manufacturing industry for over 20 years, and boasts five DINO awarded engineers. With seven manufacturing facilities in the US, ISO9001 and AS9100 certifications, and a strong partnership in China for tooling purposes, Solid Concepts is prepared to provide the right solution to hundreds of manufacturing requirements.
