VITRONICS SOLTEC EUROPE SEMINAR ON SELECTIVE SOLDERING TECHNOLOGIES VIEWED AS RESOUNDING SUCCESS
Oosterhout, the Netherlands -
From November 6-7, Vitronics Soltec Europe hosted a two-day seminar titled ‘Selective Soldering – New Technologies.’ The seminar was held at AF Industries in Marktheidenfeld, Germany and was deemed an efficient, enjoyable, informative, and thoughtful series by both the contributors and the attendees.
The goal of the event was to see if Vitronics Soltec’s development plans were in line with their customer’s needs, and the response received was a resounding yes. At the seminar, Vitronics Soltec showed highlights of future concepts, but also live demonstrated process enhancements to show the capabilities of their selective soldering technologies.
These selective process enhancements included numerous new technological developments such as:
-a new high frequency nozzle technology for improved flux control
-powerful convection preheating;
-top side preheating hat occurs in the gripper during soldering for better product thermal solderability;
-an improved cast iron solderpot;
-the ability to quickly exchange tools using quick disconnect systems;
-process enhancement of wettable strips and nitrogen covers for flux and solder consumption savings and yield improvements.
Besides this the results of a recent DOE were presented on the impact of parameters on the spread of flux in selective soldering.
“We could not have been more pleased with how the seminar went,” said Frank van Erp, Vitronics Soltec’s Director – European Sales and Service. “We hosted 47 people from 34 different companies and have since received several requests to implement some of the enhancements we highlighted at our customers’ facilities.”
