SMART Group Continues smart-e-webinar Series with Environmental Regulation Webinar
SMART Group, Europe’s largest technical trade association focusing on surface mount and related technologies, announces that it will present the webinar “Environmental Regulation Update – 2013 Very Busy Year of Change!” on Friday, November 30 at 2:30 p.m. (GMT).

This smart-e-webinar will be presented by SMART Group's Technical Committee Vice-Chair Nigel Burtt and will bring attendees up to speed on the upcoming changes by focusing on the following topics:
» Identifying new obligations under the recast RoHS Directive
» CE marking for RoHS - how to ensure compliance
» Conflict minerals and the USA Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act - how to respond to requests for information and comply with US legal obligations
» An update on the recast WEEE Directive and significant impact changes

Effective January 2, 2013, the recast EU RoHS Directive is required to come into force in all member states. While no new substances were added to the six already restricted, significant changes have occurred, specifically the requirement that as of January 2013 "CE" markings and Declarations of Conformity will be mandatory evidence of product RoHS compliance.

In the United States, the rules relating to supply chain traceability of certain key raw materials for electronics were published on August 22, 2012. Reporting requirements for these rules also commences in January 2013. By May 31, 2014, companies must have systems in place to submit their first year of compliance data.

The webinar will last approximately 60 minutes plus questions. Before booking, and to get the best out of your webinar experience, please click here to read the smart-e-webinar guide.
